There is a reason why Nandamuri Balakrishna, the MLA of Hindupur, unveiled the theatrical trailer of Guntur Talkies: the film was shot in and around Hindupur. Balayya was all energy and light-veined while speaking at the trailer release function. "Telugu film industry has always made diverse kind of films. Kalam mana venta parigetthinche sattha kevalam mana Telugu cinema ke sontham," he said, adding that, if, despite this films flop, the fault must lie with the makers and not the audience.
Saying that the title Guntur Talkies has an allusion to theatre, he invoked the names like Surabhi, and Kala Parishads. "The film has a homely title. I have worked with Shraddha Das in the past. I'm confused as to whether she is the hero or it's Siddhu. I'm very proud that the film has a Hindupur connection."
He hailed Naresh as a great actor, who has tried very many kinds of roles. "An actor is a student, who constantly learns new things. Director Praveen Sattaru is a man of passion. It's good that the makers have not revealed the suspense. It works as, for example, it did in the case of Dictator. The ugly avatar in Bhairava Dweepam was not revealed before the film's release or on the posters. When the audience saw it, they were quite thrilled. Although my fans were a bit disappointed, they started liking that ugly avatar after the balcony-class audience were thrilled."
