Bollywood is generally identified with heroes having Chocolate looks and debonair personalities likes Dharmendra or Salman Khan. But there is an exception because Bollywood has also patron actors who lacked the so called Chikna' looks and yet made their marks in films. One such legendary actor is Naseeruddin Shah.
In fact at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival Naseeruddin Shah, thanked god for his not so charming looks. Readers may wonder why?
Well speaking on the occasion Naseer revealed, "When I ventured into Bollywood it was ruled by Chocolate heroes like Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shashi Kapoor etc and I knew it would be a tough task for an actor like me with ordinary looks to make my presence felt. But call it fortune at the same time a filmmaker called Shyam Benegal was looking for actors with ordinary looks. He spotted me and happened to cast me in his film NISHANT, which till date remains my most cherished role and closest movie to my heart."
Naseer added, "No doubt my looks played an important role in me getting NISHANT but the movie opened a floodgates for me to do many path breaking movies like MANTHAN and JUNOON."
Like Naseer the other actor who approve his looks paving a great path in Bollywood is contemporary actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the actor who is basking limelight thanks to his numerous hits films like GANGS OF WASSEYPUR, TALAASH and of course Salman Khan's hit film KICK.
In an interview Nawazuddin Siddiqui candidly confessed, "When I landed in Mumbai I had no starry dreams of becoming a star because I knew I had an ordinary face and I was confident that it was my looks that would open doors for quality roles. As expected it happened though after a decade!"
