WHO on whether asymptomatic patients spread Covid-19

Recently, a WHO expert said that asymptomatic Covid-19 patients spread the infection very rarely. Since a majority of coronavirus patients are asymptomatic, this was music to millions of ears. However, the statement was met with dismay by scientists and researchers, who called out the expert for making the remark without clinching evidence in hand.
Following the outrage, a WHO official said that the majority of known viral transmission cases are because of people who have symptoms and transmit the virus to others through infectious droplets. That said, there is no data to "truly understand how many people don’t have symptoms".
There is an asymptomatic stage, and then there is a presymptomatic stage. "Research has shown that people become infectious before they start feeling sick, during that presymptomatic period," reports Stat News.
Meanwhile, the Chief of WHO has said that the worst of Covid is yet to come.
