President Joe Biden concluded his first Asian trip as president with a press conference in Vietnam that garnered attention for all the wrong reasons. During the event, Biden's responses meandered, jokes fell flat, and he even jokingly requested a nap.

The press conference took an unexpected turn as Biden was mid-response to journalists' questions. It felt reminiscent of an overly long awards ceremony speech when he was quite literally "played off" the stage by sudden jazz music from the loudspeakers.

Despite his ongoing speech, his press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, interjected, "Thank you, everybody. This ends the press conference. Thanks, everyone," swiftly concluding the event, leaving Biden unaware that his microphone had been muted.

As soothing jazz melodies filled the room, Biden, 80, continued speaking, gradually drowned out by the rising music. He eventually put away his notes and left the stage.

Biden's trip to India and Vietnam aimed to address China's growing influence and aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. However, it was overshadowed by the escalating war in Ukraine, which he regarded as a global issue threatening international order.

Biden also made headlines by stating that the U.S. would respond militarily if China attacked Taiwan, contradicting longstanding U.S. policy. He later clarified his stance, emphasizing a desire for an improved relationship with China.

The Hanoi press conference marked the trip's final act but became a spectacle of gaffes and blunders. Biden appeared tired and confused, often going off on tangents and making jokes that fell flat. His performance raised questions about his mental fitness and leadership abilities.

A viral video clip of Biden jokingly asking for a nap during the conference added to the criticism surrounding his performance.
