In a tragic incident, over 200 people were injured after a makeshift gallery of a football stadium collapsed in Kerala’s Malappuram. The incident happened on March 19 at Poongodu, a football crazy village near Wandoor, where the sevens football match was being played. As regional football tournaments in the northern district of Kerala are quite popular, the match had attracted spectators in thousands. The police said that over 2,000 spectators were reportedly accommodated in the makeshift gallery. All the injured people were taken to nearby hospitals and five people are said to be in serious condition. The horrifying video of the incident is now viral on the internet.
