Real life inspires reel life - and it’s a common fact... Moviemakers these days are searching for exciting scripts and want to craft films based on certain real-life incidents or look for heroes for inspiration.

Very few make films inspired from their own life. It is said that writers of forthcoming film ‘Fukrey’ took inspiration from Farhan Akhtar’s life, before he established himself as a filmmaker.

"Fukrey is a slang word for a person who does nothing. Farhan can identify very closely with the term as he was one all through his college life," revealed a source. "Even after he graduated from college, he did nothing for quite a while. His mother, Honey Irani, was worried about his future as he didn’t show the slightest indication to do anything or follow a specific career path. At one point, she even warned him and told him to get serious," added the source.

Admitting it Farhan said, "I was a complete fukra for about two years after I finished college. All I did was lounge at home, watch all kinds of movies and go out with friends." Then one fine day, inspiration struck and Farhan began working on ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ (2001). The rest, as they say, is history.

Now Farhan, along with co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani, is producing ‘Fukrey’, a film about being a laggard, under their banner Excel Entertainment. The movie, whose trailer has generated a huge buzz, has Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadda and south actor Priya Anand playing the lead roles.
