Emraan Hashmi isn't known for doing multi-starrers and when he does, he picks and chooses his projects carefully. While he managed to shrug away his apprehensions by sharing screen space with Ajay Devgn in two back to back films (Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji), it was his bravura act with Naseeruddin Shah in the same frame that shocked makers.

"Emraan has never worked with Naseer before so I was a little apprehensive about how the two would look together on screen. Also, I wondered whether Emraan would be able to take on someone as senior as Naseer. Both of them are strong professionals in their own right and have a knack of being scene-stealers. Now in 'The Dirty Picture' they had to get into some heavy duty dialogue-baazi where Emraan takes on Naseer. Moreover, as the scene featured Tusshar as well, it was really important to get the tuning right for all of them," says Milan Luthria.

As luck would have it, Emraan had thoroughly rehearsed for the scene all by himself and was fully prepared when he reported on the sets.

"When it comes to Naseer you know that he would come and deliver his lines so perfectly. I have that confidence in Emraan as well but since I hadn't seen him act along with Naseer, I was a little anxious. What I saw totally shocked me because he was so comfortable right through the scene. Never did it seem that he was way too junior in comparison to Naseer," he continues in an animated tone, "He made the scene his own and was not in awe of Naseer despite the latter being such a senior actor. Once he got this scene right, I was all the more convinced that he was the best choice for the film."
