WhatsApp has seen a name change. As of now, only the beta variant 2.19.228 is reflecting the name change. WhatsApp By Facebook is the new name.

Why has the company changed its name? As is known, WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, which has an interesting plan for the future. "The plan is to integrate WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Messaging into a common chat interface," says a source in a report. This means that you can chat with a WhatsApp user through Facebook or Instagram and vice-verse in future. You will not need to have an Instagram account, for example, to chat with an Instagram user.

So, by changing the name to WhatsApp By Facebook, they are making the users get used to the eventual integration.
