It's known that WhatsApp group admins are legally responsible for the content circulated in their groups. In a familiar incident in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, Naeem, a WhatsApp group admin has been arrested.
His crime? The police believe that he was circulating "anti-national" messages. One Dipak Kumar related to a Hindutva group is reported to have made the complaint that a WhatsApp group named Josh, led by Naeem, was pushing "offensive" messages against the national interests.
As per the police, the accused runs a common services center in his native village.
The arrest is a wake-up call. Sometimes, even innocuous or troublesome messages spawned by someone in the group can spell doom for the group admin.
