First of all, god forbid that such a thing should happen. But unfortunately, we have to be prepared for the worst. So let’s see what the official procedure will be if it rains on the day of the semi-finals or finals.
Fans have been devastated because 4 matches have been abandoned due to rain till now, some without even a single ball bowled. What if the thunderstorms grace the knockout games as well? According to the ICC, if the semi-finals game is washed out, a reserve day will be assigned and the match will happen again. If it rains on the reserve day as well, the team which has the highest points until the quarter-finals stage (the higher placing in the league stage) will directly advance to the final.
If clouds decide to quash our hopes in the final, a similar procedure of a reserve day will be followed. But rain on the reserve day will mean that the two teams will share the trophy. This has never happened before. But just imagine this! What if India and Pakistan end up sharing the trophy?
