Fingertip - Well researched binge worthy thriller
ZEE5 is a regional streaming platform in our country, which presents content for its users in multiple languages. The latest release on the well-known OTT is the Tamil web series 'Fingertip Season 2'. Basked in glory over the phenomenal response to the show's first season, the makers are back with Fingertip Season 2. Whether the series is worth your time remains to be seen.
The new season follows the lives of 6 people: ACP Arivu (Prasanna), Actress Priya (Regina Cassandra), Psychiatrist Shruthi (Aparna Balamurali), Delivery Boy Venkat (Vinoth Kishan), Social Media Influencer Naveen (Kanna Ravi) and the Graphics Expert (Sharath Ravi). All these characters cross paths with each other at different points after their lives are affected by the digital space in one way or the other. Some are predators and some are victims of digital crimes or digital depression.
All the lead actors have delivered astonishing performances. Prasanna puts up a brilliant performance as an emotionally broken cop while Regina and Vinoth Kishan elevated their roles to a new level with their acting. The other lead actors have given a neat performance. There were a lot of notable performances among the supporting cast.
A big shout out to the writer and director Shivakar Srinivasan for making a compelling hyperlink thriller in this new season while the first was just an anthology. We could feel that the writing is well researched and perfectly balanced for all the roles. Every character had a complete arc and they seemed to be evolving further as the show ended with a lead for the next season.
The big reveals, twists and turns were beautifully orchestrated and paced at the right intervals right from the initial episode. The 8-episode series grows better with each episode and ensures us a promising watch. However, we can't avoid the thought that the finale could have been better for the huge premise they set up. Also, some sequences were staged inadequately resulting in an artificial though the situation is genuine.
Nevertheless, the events and the loose ends pay off well in establishing the stage for a more powerful new season. The show addresses much-needed topics in today's world and educates the audience about the importance of mental health and how the digital medium ruins it (not in a preachy way). On the other hand, 'Fingertip Season 2' is much much stronger on the technical side beginning from music and visuals to editing and production design.
'Fingertip Season 2' is a binge worthy series that provides a glance at the hazards lying on the darker side of the digital arena. This technological thriller is definitely worth your time.
