Suriya’s request to fans amidst hashtag WeStandWithSuriya trending big

The controversy surrounding Suriya’s internationally acclaimed new movie ‘Jai Bhim’ took an ugly turn today with PMK local politician Sidhamalli Pazhaniswamy offering rupees one lakh reward for attacking Suriya.  The Vanniyar Sangam leader Arul Mozhi on the other hand has sent a legal notice to Suriya, Jyothika and director Gnanavel demanding rupees five crores compensation for hurting the sentiments of his community in the film .  Read : Politician offers 1 lakh reward to physically attack Suriya – 5 Crores demanded

Suriya’s official side has sent out a circular to fan club members not to lower their standards by reacting to the attacks on him.  Fans have been asked to instead focus their energy on constructive things in their lives.

If social media trends are anything to go by Suriya has received tremendous support from the internet users with the hash tag #WeStandWithSuriya trending number one in India.  At the same criticism is heavy on the PMK and the other fringe political outfits alleging their attempt to stifle creative freedom.

Politicians such as Thol Thirumavalavan, CPIM Tamil Nadu, directors Pa. Ranjith, Rathnakumar and others have expressed their support to Suriya.  Demands have been placed before the government to take legal action against those who have publicly threatened the leading actor known for his philontropic activities.
