Recently, Puri Jagannadh invited criticism when he said in one of his podcasts that poor people should be deprived of the right to vote. Looks like Vijay Deverakonda has got similar views.
In a recent interview with Film Companion, the 'Fighter' actor said that he doesn't think everyone should be allowed to vote. "When you get on a plane, would all the passengers get to decide who is going to be the pilot? The most competent person is given the task of flying the plane," Deverakonda said, suggesting that the same should be the case with elections.
"Money and cheap liquor swing votes in our system. I think the middle-class people who have the most at stake and educated people who don't get swung easily should alone have the right to vote," he added.
The actor further opined that we need a benevolent dictator who will bring about change.
