Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that the ruling BJP at the Centre would surely be able to do well in Tamil Nadu during the ensuing parliamentary elections to be held across the country in April/May.
Modi was probably the only prominent BJP leader who reacted to the BJP’s shocking defeats in the just-concluded Assembly polls in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. BJP was voted out of power in these States ironically as its bete niore Congress replaced it in Jaipur, Ranchi and Bhopal. BJP drew a blank in Telangana while it could just register its presence in Mizoram.
In the face of the Assembly poll reverses, BJP has chalked out a new approach wherein Modi addresses party cadrs in different parts of Tamil Nadu via video-conferencing mode. Speaking to BJP functionaries and cadres in Villupuram via this mode yesterday, Modi asserted that it was time the cadres took to people the welfare measures initiated by the BJP Govt. at the Centre.
“Congress cries foul with EVMs when it loses but keeps silent when it wins,” Modi took a dig at the Congress and added that he was confident of a good showing by the party in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the upcoming parliamentary polls.
