Arunkumar is popular among Keralites after the video of his mini models of auto ‘Sundari’ from the movie ‘Aye Auto’ starring Mohanlal, for his children Keshini and Madhav went viral on social media. Now, Arun Kumar has once grabbed the attention of netizens with his fully-functional miniature version of the Jeep Willys SUV.
The jeep was built for a 10-year-old kid Amrutesh, who has been hospitalized for two years. The child had been dreaming for a 'Nedumpally' jeep inspired by Mohanlal's latest super hit movie 'Lucifer'. To fulfill their son's wish, his parents got in touch with Arunkumar through YouTube for the jeep, which is ready now. It will be given to Amrutesh once he is discharged from the hospital soon.
Arunkumar is said to have spent Rs 25,000 to make the fully functional model jeep which weighs 75 kg, but can carry twice that weight of 150 kg. The jeep can run for three hours continuously on a single charge. It took seven to eight months to complete the entire build which comes with a number of parts borrowed from different vehicles and/or built in-house by Arunkumar himself.
Powered by a 24V DC motor the jeep comes with headlamps, taillights, fog lamps, operational windscreen wipers, USB mobile charging port, horn, and interior lights. The miniature SUV toy comes with a forward, neutral, and reverse gear.
Meanwhile, business tycoon Anand Mahindra has also taken to Twitter to get connected with Arun. Mahindra had tweeted, “That model looks very cool indeed! I’d love to see if he’s interested in us helping him manufacture these toy models for sale to others. Could compete with imports of such toys if made in larger volumes.”
Arunkumar works as a nurse in the Idukki district hospital. His wife, Arya, is also a nurse. The video of the making of this car has been shared on YouTube. Check it out!
