Watch out for Rajanna's Mallamma

Who do you think is going to keep you glued to the screens when Nag would not be seen for the first 30 minutes of the movie? It is Annie, a 10-year old tot, whom Nagarjuna describes as extraordinary performer. She will be seen as Rajanna's daughter in the movie. The girl is the biggest star of the film after Nag (excluding, of course, the behind-the-screen heroes, Vijayendra Prasad, Keeravani and Rajamouli).

The girl is playing Mallamma, who loses her father even before she was born and mother, as a young girl. She grows up singing folk songs, much to the chagrin of the wicked dorasani. When she is hounded out of the village, she trudges on a path to Delhi to present the case of her village to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Nag says that he finds the girl's character a significant aspect of the film. Luckily, the girl (who was seen as Ravi Teja's daughter in Vikramarkudu) has given a realistic performance. So much so, Nag feels unhappy that he did not get to share any scene with her.

The now-famous Gijigadu number in the film would be played for most part of the film when the girl is seen. In fact, it the theme song for the girl.

In a film that is high voltage for most part, the girl's character will offer a whiff of sobriety.

Ravi Teja is Tolly's Salman

Why do we say Ravi Teja is Tollywood's Salman Khan. It is because for the Mass Maharaja, what is of paramount importance is whether his film will rake in the moolah, not whether it will fetch awards. Sallu bhai, for one, is said to hold similar opinions. Which is why Salman declined an offer from Ashutosh Gowarikar of Swades fame.

Priyamani's loses her ground

Has Priyamani been pipped by a contingent of newcomers? So it seems. She was touted to become one of the reigning divas way back some years ago when she grabbed film after film like NTR's Yamadonga, Balakrishna's Mitrudu, Ravi Teja's Shambo Shiva Shambo and Nagarjuna's Ragada.

Lakshmi to join Mani Ratnam's film from Jan

As is well-known Lakshmi Manchu has signed on the dotted line to do Mani Ratnam’s next film, Pookadai, when she was to Chennai to launch a Tamil film which is to star her brother, Manoj, in the lead. The actress-producer will start shooting for the film from January, 2012.

I am not there the first 30 mins: Nag

Nagarjuna wants to prepare the audience for what is in store in Rajanna. Which is why he has briefed the media about his forthcoming film. He said that his character makes a foray only after the first 30 minutes. (But when he makes an entry, mind it, it is a swashbuckling one).

Rajanna's revolution

From the beginning, Vijayendra Prasad has been telling us that the hero in Rajanna puts up a fight against the cruel Razakars. Revealing a good chunk of the story, Nagarjuna, speaking to the media, has narrated how he goes on the revolutionary path in the film. If anything, the writer has his stamp on the story for good measure.
