Yash Raj Films has finally released its much talked venture, director Dibakar Banerjee upcoming adventure thriller, 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!'

Starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the title role, the film is based on Saradindu Bandyopadhyay's well-known and successful fictional detective, Byomkesh Bakshy and is a contemporary interpretation of Calcutta during the 1940's.

For the launch event, YRF Studios was transformed into 1940s Calcutta where Director Dibakar Banerjee, along with leading man Sushant Singh Rajput, unveiled the trailer of 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!'

Sushant, dressed nattily in a cool designer dhoti and a typical Bengali jacket, arrived in a hand-pulled rickshaw, a popular mode of transport in Calcutta. He also surprised the audience by pulling the rickshaw off-stage himself! Sushant in his cool style, along with Dibakar Banerjee in his inimitable style, interacted with the media and left the audience applauding and wanting the session to continue.

At the trailer launch, coincidently on Sushant's birthday, everyone was treated to delectable Calcutta street food fare like Luchi, Aloo'r Dum, Jhal Muri, Momo and Mishti Doi in a backdrop replete with a larger than life Byomkesh Bakshy jumping over the iconic bridge and street vendors completing the realistic world of 1940s Calcutta… and this is just the beginning!

Incidentally, this first of its kind detective film is an adventure thriller mired in deep political intrigue. A young, astute and intelligent Byomkesh, fresh out of college, pits himself against a mega world villain, depending more on his intuition and instinct rather than concrete proof, to solve the case, sometimes overstepping the law if needed.

The film releases worldwide on 3rd April 2015.
