Saif Ali Khan being announced as a 'Best Actor' for the National Awards this year is already been considered as nothing but amusing.

Yes, he was good in 'Hum Tum' and came up with a spirited performance. It was also his first sole movie which ran exceedingly well. His role too took various shades throughout the movie hence giving him enough space to prove his versatility. But was he the BEST of the year? Doesn't seem so.

Because in that case what happens to Hrithik Roshan in 'Lakshya'? Or Shahrukh Khan in 'Swades' [where he was finally acknowledged as an 'actor' - ironically after giving more than 10 super hits].

Probably the idea was to do something unconventional and bend the criteria. Fair enough ! But in that case Saif Ali Khan in 2004's neglected thriller 'Ek Haseena Thi' was many a times better than the Saif Ali Khan in candy floss 'Hum Tum'.

Probably Saif could have been hailed more all over if he would have got the award for EHT. But for 'Hum Tum'? Well, we can't help but continue to smile!
