President Jair Bolsonaro had authorized military operations in seven states to fight fires in the Amazon,after requests for assistance from local governments.It has been observed that areas bigger than football fields have been charred, and active fires were restricted to small areas.
The firefighters from environmental enforcement agency Ibama cleared fires with jets connected to water packs and a video from Defense Ministry showed a military plane pumping gallons of water to the forest.This happened after concerns raised in the Group of Seven (G7) nations meeting in France regarding the fires.
French President Emmanuel Macron said the G7 had planned a deal to provide technical and financial help to nations impacted by Amazon fires.80,000 fires have been registered across Brazil and this is the highest since 2013.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a plane and specialized support for firefighting operations. As announced by defense ministry, strong measures are being taken and the military is planning operations to assist firefighting initiatives.
