'War for the Planet of the Apes' races past 'Spider-Man'

With a $56.5 million in its second week from 4,022 theatres across North America, 20th Century Fox` War for the Planet of the Apes` has leapt past Marvel`s Spider-Man: Homecoming` at the box office.

The latest installment of Spider-Man` has registered a 61% decline in comparison to the last installment, but so has the Planet of the Apes`, whose last installment opened to $72.6 million in 2014.

Both films have managed to score well with critics and audiences, but, clearly, there is an evident sequel fatigue.
