The success event of ‘Waltair Veerayya’ was held in Warangal on Saturday. Ram Charan was present as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Chiranjeevi said that the film has so far grossed more than Rs 250 Cr. This is a non-SSR record, he added.
“The credit for this success goes to the audience. This film has portrayed me the way the audience wanted. This film delivered the vintage Chiranjeevi the audience loved in a ‘Gang Leader’, a ‘Gharana Mogudu’ and a ‘Rowdy Alludu’. If ‘Khaidi’ made me a star hero in the 1980s, ‘WV’ has made Bobby a star director today. I have become his fan. He didn’t waste a single frame. He wrote the script tightly. The footage only to the extent of 2 or 5 minutes was wasted,” Chiru said.
The ‘Acharya’ actor also lauded Charan’s performances in ‘Rangasthalam’ and ‘RRR’.
Chiru praised the commitment of producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar, adding that the ocean fight was mounted on a Hollywoodian scale. “When the director asked them for a ship set for a song, the producers spent a bomb to get a real shipyard on board,” Chiru said, also making a mention of Devi Sri Prasad and cinematographer Arthur A Wilson. Sekhar VJ’s choreography, the action choreography (especially for the interval bang) by the Ram-Laxman duo, the Mad Max chase in the second half done by Peter Hein and other aspects were also mentioned by Chiru.
Chiru said that Ravi Teja comes across as another Pawan Kalyan.
