Walmart pays 7.5 million dollars to customer

American multinational retail market chain Walmart will have to pay about 7.5 million dollars to a customer as he broke his hip trying to pick up a watermelon from the store.

The customer Henry Walker, is an army veteran who is a retired Seargent aged 59. The incident happened in Walmart, Phenix City, Alabama when his foot got stuck in a side pallet of the display which made him fall and injure his hips.

Henry went on to sue the retail chain citing negligence and that its premises was not reasonably safe for its customers. After the matter was argued about in court by his lawyer, he was awarded 2.5 million dollars in compensdatory damages and 5 million dollars in punitive damages.
