Sathyaraj’s speech during the hunger strike has attracted lot of attention from many quarters. While some say that the actor had gone overboard, some appreciate him for his “bold and honest” speech. A VIP, who heard Sathyaraj’s speech in TV, immediately called and congratulated him for his force and courage.

Sathyaraj later revealed that the VIP was none other than director Bharathiraja. He also informed the reporters that many NRI Tamils had called and appreciated him for his speech.

It is said that Sathyaraj was particularly irked by the speech of actor Vijayakumar, who mentioned Rajinikanth’s name in his speech quite frequently. “I too know how to get applause. But I don’t want such an applause”, declared the actor in an angry tone. He went on to take the Kannadiga organizations and politicians to task while dealing the issue elaborately. He also made some strong comments while arguing the case in defense of Tamils’ legitimate right over the water available within the border of Tamil Nadu.
