Vizag Gas Leak: YSRCP MLAs insensitive comment draws flak

Karanam Dharmasri, the YSRCP MLA of Chodavaram, has made an insensitive comment during a TV debate. During the loud debate, which involved some saber-rattling, the politician suggested that many residents of Vizag are feeling sorry that someone in their family didn't die so they could have received Rs 1 Cr from the government as ex-gratia.

"I shouldn't be saying this. But it's a fact that many there are saying that a death in the family would have enriched them by Rs 1 Cr," Karanam Dharmasri alleged. Following the comment, the host is heard commenting that it's inappropriate on the politician's part to make such a dishonorable remark.

Sections of TDP leaders have slammed the MLA, so also many on social media. Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy of the TDP shot back saying that the MLA shouldn't attribute such thinking to people.

The Vizag Gas Leak has seen about a dozen deaths so far.
