Tuesday was a memorable day for Vivek, for the top comedian of Tamil cinema launched a website in Chennai, urging the need for green cover in the country to protect the environment from the ill-effects of global warming.

The website was click-started by Vivek in the presence of Ponraj, an associate of former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam. "We will soon launch a short film on planting of saplings," Vivek said,

"Green Kalam is an initiative to increase awareness about our dependence on trees for survival. It is Kalam sir's dream to make people to understand the importance of a tree which dedicates every part of its life to every living being," Vivek added.

He further said: "With the help of several NGOs and well-wishers we achieved beyond the target of sapling plantation. Now we go further by taking a step ahead by making it billion trees for billion people. Kalam is taking part in a function in this regard at Cuddalore in January."
