Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has a distaste for Bollywood and he doesn't shy away from expressing it in his interviews. During a recent conversation with India Today, he talked about the poor state that Hindi cinema is in right now and shared that Bollywood's arrogance and disconnect with the masses are the factors behind this.
Vivek stated, "Why is Bollywood suffering today? Because you are trying to pass on your own failure to an individual, because that works and everybody picks up that as new. Go to any middle-class, urban, semi-urban household and ask them to conduct an interview. Do research and you will find people's hate towards arrogance, glossy lifestyle, and the disconnect of Bollywood with the real life audience."
Continuing his point further, Vivek added, "So, all this kind of hypocrisy, arrogance, and this flashy, flamboyant lifestyle, paid and organised publicity campaigns, all these things people have seen in the last few years during Covid-19. And, now they are not willing to accept it, which is a good thing which has made Bollywood rethink about the ideology they follow."
