Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, 'The Kashmir Files' was one of the most successful Bollywood movies of 2022. Based on the 1990 exodus and mass killing of Kashmiri pandits, the film was a critical and commercial success and unsurprisingly, it was also the front runner in the race for India's official pick for the Oscars.
It was largely believed that either 'The Kashmir Files' or 'RRR' will get picked but ultimately a Gujarati film titled 'Chhello Show' was finalised as our official entry for the Academy Awards. Talking about his film getting out of the Oscars race, Vivek Agnihotri states, "I wish them all the luck for the future run. I have nothing else to say.”
The filmmaker expressed disinterest when he was then asked whether he'll try to take the film to Oscars independently. Vivek said, "Mujhe inn sab cheezon se farak nahi padta. When it comes to the film going to the Oscars independently, it is something which the makers have to decide. Right now, I am doing another film, and I have moved on.”
Talking about 'Chhello Show', the film stars Bhavin Rabari, Richa Meena, Bhavesh Srimali in primary roles.
