Vitamin supplementation hasn't been taken seriously in our society. But, at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is an ever-increasing threat, Vitamin D intake may have become indispensable.
Recently, The Times said this in a report: "Health officials in Scotland have been advised to boost the nation’s vitamin D levels to help combat a second wave of coronavirus". The report added, “It has been suggested that low levels of vitamin D, endemic within the UK, exacerbated by lockdown and which worsen over winter, may contribute to susceptibility to Covid-19."
Earlier this month, a Times Of India report noted that some doctors in India are of the view that a Covid infection could result in respiratory issues if Vitamin D is deficient in a body. It's because Vitamin D is linked to lung function.
A Telugu daily's report says that a large proportion of seriously-affected Covid patients have been found to be deficient in Vitamin D.
In this scenario, those parts of the country where Vitamin D is deficient in people may have to start focusing on supplementation.
