Its a known fact that Superstar Rajnikanth and Thala Ajith are all set to have the ultimate box office battle this Pongal, as their respective releases, Rajni's 165th film Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj and Ajith's 58th movie Viswasam directed by Siva, is scheduled to release on January 10, as Pongal treats for mass movie lovers.

Petta is an action thriller that has Simran and Trisha pairing with Rajni for the first time in their careers, and also has Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi,Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Megha Akash and Bobby Simha in prime roles and has music by Anirudh, while Viswasam will be a rural mass entertainer that also stars Nayanthara, Jagapathi Babu, and Yogi Babu. Both the movies will have the heroes in dual avatars.

While it was revealed last week that Petta which had been censored U/A will have a runtime of 2 hours and 50 minutes, Viswasam, as per latest reports will have a crisp runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes, making it ideal for theaters to plan their shows accordingly. While it has been common for most of the mass entertainers of Rajni to have a lengthy runtime, Viswasam right now has an edge over Petta with its ideal runtime.
