Viswasam

Thursday, January 10, 2019 • Kannada Comments

Thala Ajith, who was last seen on screens in the action thriller Vivegam released in 2017, is all set to have his next release in the form of Viswasam directed by Siva, in his fourth collaboration with the actor, after Veeram,Vedhalam and Vivegam. The movie also marks Lady Superstar Nayanthara's fourth movie with Ajith, after Billa, Aegan and Arrambam. Bankrolled by Sathyajyoti films, Viswasam is slated to release on January 10, as a Pongal treatfor diehard fans of Thala, who have been waiting to witness their matinee idol after a gap of more than a year.

From the promos, stills and the recently released trailer of Viswasam, it has been evident that the movie is a typical mass entertainer with Ajith playing a character named Thookudurai, sporting two different looks, one that of a grey-haired young look, and another, a salt and pepper, aged look with a thick handlebar moustache. The sequences and the dialogues in the trailer give an impression that Thookudurai is a most loved person of Koduvilarpatti in Theni, and is a do-gooder who indulges in anything for the welfare of people around him, and years later, he is seen in Mumbai with his daughter Swetha. As Thookudurai faces a challenge from the evil antagonist played by Jagapathi Babu, was he able to win the opponent and save his daughter, and eliminate the villain, what happened to his wife Niranjana, and what was the situation that forced him to leave his village and enter Mumbai is what the audience is set to witness on screens in this typical rural mass treat from Siva - Ajith combo.

The trailer shows that Ajith has been presented in a very energetic manner, and his fun-loving side has been presented in sequences with Nayanthara, and the young age sequences and the older look has more of swag and action  with the same casual attitude, and with the punches Ajith utters like "Vaazhkaila oru thadava azhatha panakkaranum illa, oru thadava sirikkatha aezhaiyum illa", "En kadhaila naan villain da", "Aeri midhichennu vaiyi, area  vaangurathilla, moocha kooda vaangamudiyathu" one can be guaranteed of thundering response at theatres. The romance between Thala and Nayanthara, the daughter - father bonding, and the ultimate face off between Jagapathi Babu and Ajith are gonna be the highlights of the movie. Vetri's colorful visuals and Ruben's editing are expected to be an asset to the movie.

D.Imman's theme music has struck a chord with the audience especially post its usage in the trailer, and of the songs, Kannana Kanney crooned by Sid Sriram, Vaaney, and the peppy Adchi Thooku have already occupied the playlists of many.Viswasam boasts of a huge starcast including Jagapathi Babu,Anikha Surendran, Yogi Babu,Thambi Ramaiah, Robo Shankar,Ramesh Thilak and a battalion of artists, making the movie give an instant family movie vibe, and with  Siva being an expert in serving commercial potboilers, after the mediocre outing Vivegam, one can expect Siva - Ajith combo to excel, as the duo have already proven themselves in the rural masala genre with Veeram, which was again a Pongal release that clashed with Jilla. As Viswasam team has super confidently announced their release alongside Superstar's Petta, with the trailer promising full-on feast for masala lovers as well as the family audience, one can certainly expect Thookudurai to lift the festive spirit, and emerge a winner from Thala this time.
