People will fall in love with Thala Ajith in 'Viswasam' - Siruthai Siva Exclusive Interview
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
In just over a couple of days Thala Ajith's 'Viswasam' is hitting the screens as a grand Pongal treat on January 10th. We caught up with director Siruthai Siva for an exclusive interview in which he has shared never before information on the most awaited film.
You are combining with Thala Ajith for the fourth time what was the compulsion on you to deliver in 'Viswasam'?
"Everyone knows how big a star Thala Ajith is and I have done four films with him continuously and the only compulsion on me is to make all them in different genres. 'Veeram' was a complete rural entertainer, 'Vedalam' had Thala in a completely kickass character and 'Vivegam' was a complete urban film. For 'Viswasam' we decided that the characterization should be rooted in nativity and at the same time kickass and with an emotional connect. As the release date is nearing I can confidently say that the film has fulfilled my aspirations to the maximum."
People are comparing 'Viswasam' with 'Veeram'...your take on that...
"Once the film is released everyone will realize that there is absolutely no connection between the two films. The only similarity is Thala Ajith donning the traditional veshti sattai in both otherwise his character in this one is way more kickass, more innocent, more loving and in short, the audiences will fall in love with him.."
Which is your favorite shot in the film?
As seen in the trailer the one where Thala Ajith emerges from his jeep amongst the crowd. I was excited after conceiving the shot and discussed with cinematographer Vettri. After it was executed and we saw the visuals it was so stunning that we decided then itself that it will feature in the trailer. Apart from that Vettri has captured the rural landscapes very aesthetically and I think thats because he is basically a villager.
Your films always carry a strong message is 'Viswasam' about farmers?
"Viswasam' definitely carries a strong message but it is not totally about farmers but on the other hand, it will be universal that is the need of the hour."
Did Ajith sir change the lyrics "Adavadi Thooku Durai...Alaparaiyana Thala"?
"Yugabharathi did write those lyrics but it was not Thala but I who asked him to avoid it because he (Ajith) generally does not like songs that praise him".
You broke your usual Thursday sentiment in 'Viswasam'... tell us about that...
"We honestly never had any such sentiments but coincidently the major updates and releases of 'Veeram', 'Vedalam' and 'Vivegam' were announced on Thursdays. We realized that fans started having huge expectations on Thursdays and sometimes we could not meet the deadline and so as not to disappoint them we decided to make all our announcements on normal days. We know god's grace is there for us on all days".
Do watch the interview below in which director Siva has spoken about his first time collaboration with D.Imman, Thala Ajith's mass moments, mixed reviews for 'Viswasam' and much more.
