Stating that actor Vishal had not paid service taxes upto 1 crore rupees, the service tax department officials had sent a notice to the actor in 2016. However, despite being summoned to pay the tax multiple times, the actor did not appear before the officials.
This had lead to the service tax department filing a case against the actor in the Chennai Egmore economic crimes court. The court had ordered Vishal to appear for the hearing, and during the hearing held yesterday, Vishal had come to the court, and during the hearing, Vishal's advocate had requested exemption from appearing in the next hearing.
Following opposition from the Service tax department, the court had ordered that Vishal must appear for the hearings whenever required, and the actor's side took back their request for exemption. The next enquiry on this case will happen on August 1. Vishal is currently acting in few movies like Sundar.C's next, Irumbuthirai 2. etc.
