The Kollywood strike that began on March 1st has brought film shootings to a grinding halt and left theaters without new releases for the past 47 days. The Tamil Film Producers and the Digital Service Providers are in a deadlock over the VPF fees that the latter are charging and also peeved by the theater owners not embracing computerized ticketing outside the city.
Today Vishal, S.R. Prabhu and Kathiresan representing the TFPC and the theater owners have been called for a meeting with Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Kadambur Raju mediating. Highly placed sources in the industry as well as the government are of the opinion that an amicable solution will be arrived at today and new films could release as early as this Friday.
