'Abhimanyudu', to be released as ‘Irumbu Thirai’ in Tamil, stars Vishal in a power-packed role.  The Tamil version is set to be released this Friday.  The makers today screened the film's first half to Chennai-based and it has to be seen how the PS Mithran-directed movie will be received.  

There is this controversy that the film shows Aadhaar in a bad light. Mithran today stated that the film doesn’t talk about the dangers that are associated with Aadhaar but rather deals with the other face of Digital India.  

It should also be noted that a petition was filed seeking a temporary ban on the film as it allegedly shows Aadhaar in a poor light.  However, the case was dismissed by the High Court in Chennai on the grounds that a film cannot be banned after it has passed the censors successfully.

The film has Samantha in the role of a doctor.  Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.  The Telugu version's release date is yet to be announced.
