The 2005 blockbuster 'Sandakozhi' is one of the landmark films in the career of actor Vishal and director Lingusamy. For Vishal, the film established him as a mass action hero. For Lingusamy such a huge success came as a much needed break after the colossal flop of 'Ji' in which he worked with the much bigger star Ajith .

A sequel to 'Sandakozhi' has been on the cards for the past few years but nothing concrete happened except media talks. Last year Vishal gave shocker by announcing that 'Sandakozhi 2' has been dropped due to an alleged misunderstanding with Lingusamy.

But thankfully within few months the actor and the director buried the hatchet and decided to unite for 'Sandakozhi 2'.

In a recent interview Lingusamy confirmed that at present he is focused on 'Sandakozhi 2' to start shooting as early as possible. He will be taking up his Tamil-Telugu bilingual only after finishing this much expected sequel.

Vishal has completed shooting for 'Kaththi Sandai' directed by Suraaj and he is presently shooting for 'Thupparivalan' directed by Mysskin.

Now we learn from a reliable source that the shooting of 'Sandakozhi 2' will begin in Theni on January 1, 2017, The source also adds that Rajkiran who played a powerful supporting character in the first part has been retained and Keerthy Suresh will play the female lead. Yuvan Shankar Raja who gave chartbuster tunes for 'Sandakozhi' will score music for the sequel also.

We will have to wait for the official confirmation on the commencement of shoot and the announcement on the other cast and crew members of this project.
