The group of frontline actors lead by actor Vishal are is on a campaigning spree to gain support for their contest in the upcoming elections for the key posts in the South Indian Artists Association (Nadigar Sangam). Now they have laid a condition to withdraw from the elections
Speaking to media persons at Madurai Vishal announced that the group was ready to withdraw the idea of contesting in the elections if the contract signed with a private multiplex owners to build a shopping mall in the land owned by the Nadigar Sangam is rescinded.
This has been the bone of contention between the Sangam`s present office bearers lead by Sarathkumar the President and Radharavi the Secretary and the rebel group that includes actors Vishal, Karthi, Nasser, Karunas and Ponvannan.
Vishal said that the contract has been signed three years ago but the construction of the commercial complex is still incomplete. A member of the sangam has filed a case against this in the Court. Hence there it was unnecessary to go ahead with the contract. The deal shall be cancelled immediately and a decision on what can be done with the land, shall be taken after reaching a consensus.
Vishal also reiterated his earlier claim that all the highly paid actors are ready to act in a film without receiving a penny to collect funds to build a new building in the sangam`s land that can be used for the welfare of its members. However the constant denial of the present office bearers to even consider this proposal makes them feel that there was something fishy.
The rebel members of the sangam also alleged that the election is being conducted on a weekday (Wednesday) instead of Sunday to thwart actors from coming to cast their votes.
