The Tamil Film industry is doing its best to persuade the state Government to do away with the 30% municipal tax on films apart from the GST. The theatre owners have gone ahead with the strike call and all movie screenings stand cancelled indefinitely.

Office bearers of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners association, Tamil Film Producers Council and distributors association have been meeting various TN ministers for the past few days to discuss this issue

Now we learn that a team comprising of Producers Council President Vishal, representatives of theatre owners association and others are in a meeting with the TN Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy at the Secretariat in Chennai. A positive outcome is expected to emerge after this meeting.
