After the 'Aadukalam' that won multiple National awards in 2011, director Vetrimaran is back with his third film as a director and that is 'Visaranai'. The story of the film has been taken from a Tamil novel 'Lock Up' written by an Auto-driver Chandran and it deals with the custodial torture. The film is expected to be an hard hitting take on the inhuman treatment meted out to accused persons by the police during their investigation.
'Visaranai' has been produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films banner and Vetrimaran's Grass Root Film Company. The film stars 'Attakathi' Dinesh, 'Kayal' Anandhi. Samuthirakani and Aadukalam Murugadoss in important roles.
G.V.Prakash Kumar has done the musical score while S.Ramalingam has handled the camera. Editing has been done by Kishore T.E
Well before the theatrical release, the film has been screened in Venice Film Festival and International Film Festival held in Mumbai and it has received enormous appreciation from critics and film enthusiasts who have watched it so far. The film has also won the Award for the portrayal of Human Rights issues in the Venice Film Festival.
The theatrical release rights of the film have been acquired by Lyca Productions who have planned to release the film on February 5, 2016..
