Despite Virat Kohli's brilliant performance in India's third T20I against England at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, the team faced a humiliating 8-wicket defeat as the remaining players failed to step up.
The loss was attributed to several factors, the major one being the poor fielding by the team which cost them several runs. During the 12th over of the second innings, Shardul Thakur came up with a bad throw and despite having a chance to take the wicket of either Jos Buttler or David Malan, he failed to do so. Angered by this, skipper Virat Kohli not only criticized Thakur but ended up hurling abuses at him. Jos Buttler went on to score an unbeaten 83 off 52 balls while Jonny Bairstow scored 40 off 28 and remained unbeaten as well.
Virat Kohli was the only player in the Indian squad to accumulate major runs for the team as his 77 off 46 deliveries helped India set up a target of 157. As the hosts failed to defend the score, England is currently leading the five-match series 2-1 and the fourth T20I is scheduled to be held today.
