Viral Video: 126-year-old Yoga teacher feted with Padma Shri

India's President Ramnath Kovind on Monday conferred the Padma Shri on Swami Sivananda, whose age is 126 years. Hailing from Varanasi, the Yoga guru has been given the civilian honour for rendering service.
"Dedicating his life for human welfare, he has been serving leprosy-affected people at Puri for the past 50 years. Born in 1896, his healthy & long life has drawn the attention of national and international organizations," the President's office tweeted.
A video clip put out by public broadcaster Doordarsan has gone viral in this regard. The recipient is seen accepting the award by humbly doing a Namaskaran to dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video has been widely shared and Netizens are stunned by the Yoga guru's humble attitude. They are also amazed by his fitness levels at this age.
The Padma awards were declared on the eve of Republic Day in January. They were conferred to the recipients yesterday.
