Variety Magazine derives a list every year of the most sought after comedians across the world. It's the Variety '10 Comedians to Watch' list and in 2017 it's none other than our very own Vir Das who's made it to this coveted list.

Vir's Netflix special - "Abroad Understanding" is currently one of the most talked about and successful shows on world's biggest entertainment streaming platform thus leading to a spike in his popularity over and above his world tour which is currently underway. He shares space in the list with other comedians like Brian Jordan Alvarez, Rhea Butcher, John Early, Hassan Minhaj, Tiffany Haddish and more. Vir becomes the first ever Comedian from India to be featured in this list.

For the records, the comics are chosen by a large group of editors, reporters, and critics after extensive discussions with the comedy community, including those that scout, book, represent, produce, and cast comics on a daily basis. The list serves as Variety's prediction for who is going to rise towards stardom in the American Market. Past winners include Louis CK, Zack Galifanakis, Amy Schumer and Patton Oswald.
