Judiciary`s intervention and order recently in playing National Anthem before the commencement of the screening of film has garnered mixed reactions. Many are of the opinion that it should not be imposed. The film festival of Kerala IFFK -16 is also facing troubles out of such a decision. Many foreign dignitaries have expressed their displeasure in standing for national anthem before each screening of films as they watch around 4 to 5 films in a day.
Vineeth Srenivasan opined that playing national anthem before the film starts actually effects the duration of film. When advertisements are displayed and national anthem is played in theatres it makes the small films more vulnerable in loosing audience due to increase in duration of film screening. He says big films of Superstars like Mohanlal and Mammootty won`t be affected but small films may have to face the brunt of this decision as people may not show the patience to hang on. Audience shows much considerations to big star film even when the duration extends after 3 hrs.
