From the beginning, the makers of Kabali have kept details about the movie under the wraps. It was only recently that director Pa.Ranjith revealed in Hyderabad that Rajinikanth's salt N' pepper look will be seen for only twenty minutes in the movie.
After that exciting factoid, here comes yet another revelation. This one is from Kishore, who plays a baddie in this most-awaited gangster flick. Kishore, who was seen in Telugu films like Dammu, Chandamama Kathalu, has said that the film is far removed from Rajini's cult hit Basha and that Kabali has a political subtext.
"We cannot say that Kabali is like Basha just because of the common underworld background. There are so many love stories. Love is common but that will be narrated with different character types, backgrounds and idioms. Kabali is based in Malaysia and it has a political backdrop. The political and social reasons of what led to the formation of an underworld gang in Malaysia have been depicted. Tamilians, Chinese and Muslims are the three major communities living there. The film deals with how they came to this, how they evolve, what is their equations with the politics of the region, etc. Ranjith has tried to show many serious issues in this film. Despite this being a commercial film, there will be a lot of serious issues in the undercurrent," Kishore told IndiaGlitz.
Kabali, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, is expected to hit the screens on July 22. The film stars Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte in lead roles.
