Director Vijay has been facing several discomforts with the copyrights of movies that he directs. His 2010 hit 'Madharasapatinam' was said to be copied from the Hollywood film 'Titanic'. Following this, there was one more issue with 'Dheiva Thirumagal' in 2011. It was told that the movie is plagiarized from 'I Am Sam'.
His forthcoming movie with Vikram, 'Thaandavam' is in no way exceptional to these bewildering situations. Assistant director, Ponnusamy filed a case over the rights of 'Thaandavam' on 26th September.
This issue has come to a conclusion now. Ponnusamy's case was dismissed by the Madras High court and with this; 'Thaandavam' is set free for release tomorrow, 28th September.
This case and complaint about the director is totally different and contradictory to what Vijay actually is! He takes immense care and brings in maximum efforts to hit each one of his scripts.
When a crew tastes success with a particular formula in a movie, the same would then be used in the further movies or at least, the formula will get reflected at few instances in the further ones. But director Vijay has shown a drastic changeover from his 2011 hit 'Dheiva Thirumagal' and the forthcoming, 'Thaandavam'.
It is almost the same team for both the movies - director Vijay, Vikram, Anushka, Santhanam, G.V. Prakash, UTV motion pictures, Anthony's editing and Nirav Shah's cinematography; except for the case of Amy Jackson, Lakshmi Rai and a few more. The director has made a total transition nevertheless working with the same assemblage. The slow and soft mood of his previous drama is wholly withdrawn and a completely new genre is tried with 'Thaandavam'.
