'Thangalaan' is the title of Vikram's 61st movie. It is directed by Pa.Ranjith of 'Kabali' and 'Kaala' fame. Since the director's films are loved by the Telugu audience a lot, it is going to be released in Telugu as well.

Tentatively titled Chiyaan61, the pan-India project's teaser is out. Plugging the same, the film's director tweeted, "#Chiyaan61 is the journey of #THANGALAAN'S pursuit of Happiness! (sic)."

A period film in which Vikram will be seen with a flowing beard that covers his face in a raw manner, it has got Mollywood actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy and Hari Krishna in key roles. GV Prakash Kumar is setting the songs to tune, while A Kishor Kumar is its director of photography. Editing is by Selva RK and art direction is from SS Murthi.

Studio Green and Neelam Productions have announced the release of the rustic movie in multiple languages, including Hindi.

Vikram, who was recently seen in 'Ponniyin Selvan: I', will be seen as the leader of an oppressed tribe.
