Vikramarkudu Review

The thing about Ravi Teja movies is that they don't have any pretensions. It is also a philosophy that is shared by S S Rajamouli. So when the duo come together what you have is a film that is high on energy and enthusiasm (though low on logic and plausibility).

Vikramarkudu for most part works, as the script is full of dependable mass entertainment stuff --- action, comedy and glamour.

Ravi Teja in a double role delivers a double whammy as he gives his fans a dose of what he is famous for.

The story starts with Attili Sattibabu (Ravi Teja), a small-time thief but with a heart of gold. He falls for the charm of Neeraja (Anushka). But life brings in a rude twist in the form of a young girl who comes calling him dad. How? Why? Well, she is daughter of a honest cop Vikram Rathod (Ravi Teja). He is on the run because he chose to take on the gang lords of the Chambal valley. Eventually, the dons take him out. So steps in Satti Babu into his shoes and goes to Chambal Valley and finishes the unfinished work of Rathod. He also takes care of his daughter.

It is an out and out masala tale told in a racy manner. Ravi Teja enjoys the dual responsibility bestowed on him. As Satti Babu he is funny and full of beans. He has also tried to bring in some changes in his acting style to suit the other character.

Anshuka is all glamour and the camera just feasts on her ample assets. The front-benchers have nothing to complain on that score.

The rest of the cast is cast in typical mould.

The songs are full of beats and dance-centric. Keeravani has delivered a zinger. The dialogues ooze double meaning. But the production values are top-notch.

Rajamouli's strength is his clarity. He makes a mass film for mass audience. So clear in his idea and its execution, he was worked for success at the box office. Critical acclaim? Well when the cash register is ringing should you bother about that?
