For a fresh whiff of air, Vijayakanth has stepped back from politics for awhile and is now acting in 'Mariyadhai' in a dual role, as father and son. Ambika is coming back to Tamil screens after a hiatus and will be pairing up with the father Vijayakanth. Meena and Meera Jasmine are the female leads. Vikraman, the director of family melodramas is churning out a movie similar to his earlier 'Vanathaipola' filled with sentiment and romance.

Recently, a press meet was convened attended by the cast of 'Mariyadhai' including Vijayakanth, Ambika and Meena.

Vijayakanth is mighty keen to bring out a hit as it has been awhile since his super hits like 'Ramana' and 'Vanathaipola'. Speaking to media, he said, "I am sure in the same lines of 'Vanathaipola', this family themed movie will be one more hit directed by Vikraman. The whole family can sit through the film without a flinch and it will fill up their heart with good memories in the end."

Ambika is all happy to be a part of this project and she said that the script was appealing which made her come down all the way from U.S. to act in this film. Meena is confident that her role in 'Mariyadhai' will be talked about and the scenes shot so far have shaped up well.

On the whole, we see a decent family entertainer coming up shortly amidst the action masala movies, which will be a welcome relief for the family crowd.
