After the grand success of Ponniyn Selvan, Vikram joined forces with Pa Ranjith for the first time and the movie was titled Thangalaan. A short teaser was also released by the team while announcing the title.

The teaser introduced us to the period setting that the film is set in. Though the video doesn’t reveal much about the story which is revealed to be based on true events, it seems like Vikram is playing the head of a clan in the film.

Recent reports state that the post-theatrical rights of this movie is sold to Netflix for a whopping 35 crores. The interesting fact about this is that the movie is yet to be completed. This shows the weightage of the content and Vikram's mass stature in the cine field.

Thangalaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Harikrishnan Anbudurai in leading roles. With music scored by GV Prakash Kumar and produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions, the film has cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Prabha has co-written the screenplay.
