Writer-turned-director Vikram Sirikonda is ready with 'Touch Chesi Chudu'. As the film is expected to release on Feb 2, the director in this interview talks about the film's message, what we can expect from Ravi Teja, and more.
Tell us about your background.
I was born and brought up in Hyderabad. I temporarily moved to Bengaluru to pursue Mechanical Engineering. After working on 'Tagore', I worked in the scripting department of several films. I then worked on 'Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam'. When I was searching for an opportunity to become a director, I got this film.
What does your first film as a director seek to tell? Does it drive home any message?
I believe that our work should speak for us. Also, when the harmony between two individuals goes topsy-turvy, it leads to conflict. In the same way, lack of harmony between two countries will lead to a state of war. How a dedicated police officer balances his personal and professional lives is what the film is all about.
There are high expectations from the story. What do you have to say?
Vakkantham Vamsi has penned a gripping story. I have tried to translate it on the big screen in a beautiful manner. We are confident that 'TCC' will be loved by the audiences.
How was it teaming up with Ravi Teja? You have known him always. What convinced him to do the project?
My creative relationship with Ravi Teja started with 'Mirapakai'. He agreed to do 'TCC' as soon as he heard the storyline. We completed the production works in 96 days.
What can we expect from Mass Maharaja's character?
Ravi Teja hasn't done two roles in the movie. The same role has been placed in two different backdrops and time periods. Although he has played cop roles in the past, in 'TCC', his is an emotional role.
Mass masala entertainers hardly have strong roles for women. 'TCC' has got two names. What can we expect from them?
Both Raashi Khanna and Seerat Kapoor have a place in the story. Their characters are crucial for the movie. They did a nice job in their roles. I hope they will get a good name after the film's release.
What made you choose Pritam's JAM8 instead of a Tollywood talent?
We wanted songs that sound afresh. That's why we zeroed in on Pritam's JAM8. The songs have come out very well and are going to help in making the film a hit.
How was it teaming up with the producers?
I have known Nallamalapu Bujji garu since 'Lakshmi'. I listened to Vamsi's story after he asked me to. And Vallabhaneni Vamsi is another gentleman to work with.
What are your upcoming movies?
I am busy with the promotions of 'TCC' as of now. My focus is entirely on this film.
