On December 2, the official announcement of Chiyaan Vikram's next project with a critically acclaimed director surfaced on the internet. The Ponniyin Selvan actor will be joining hands with the new-gen filmmaker Pa.Ranjith for the first time in the film tentatively titled 'Chiyaan61'.

Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green, the film will go on floors by December last week. Meanwhile, the recent hot buzz in the Tamil media circle is that Pa.Ranjith had crafted the script with Thalapathy Vijay in mind. Earlier in an interview, the director revealed that he had originally written the magical realism script for Vijay.

Pa.Ranjith stated that he is a great fan of Alejandro González Iñárritu's films and magical realism genre. He added that he wanted to make a movie in the likes of Inarritu's 'Birdman'. Reports say that Ranjith narrated the script made for Vijay to Vikram which Chiyaan readily accepted. 'Chiyaan61' is said to be a dash of magical realism, superhero flick.

Earlier, Dhool was also written for Thalapathy Vijay and later, the film went on floors with Vikram only to become a massive blockbuster. On the other hand, Ranjith has put his romantic film Natchathiram Nagargirathu on hold due to Vikram's film. After wrapping up Chiyaan 61, Ranjith is likely to team up with Kamal Haasan for a movie to be bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International.
